The Swift Current RCMP say they have received several complaints about businesses receiving counterfeit $50 bills.
The notes resemble the current polymer bills. Only $50 bills have circulated thus far, but there may be bills in other denominations as well.
Although no counterfeit bills have been reported in Moose Jaw, it is important to stay vigilant.
The RCMP notes that counterfeit notes are more likely to be passed during busy times of year, such as during the holiday season.
Businesses should be aware of customers paying with bank notes that are much larger than necessary.
If you suspect you have received a counterfeit bill, contact the police.
