This week there will be the second community Block Party thrown by the Church of God on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at the Vanier Collegiate School grounds.

This will be a completely free event for community members and families to enjoy. The Block Party will start at 1 P.M. and will end at 6 P.M. with many events taking place during that time.

This is the second Block Party that the church has thrown. The first Block Party was held on July 26, 2022, with around sixty kids in attendance. Both events have been organized by Bethany DeWalt, the Children’s Outreach Coordinator, and a team consisting of church members and staff of the church.

"We partnered with the Holy Trinity Schools, and this is our second one this summer. It was a good turnout, we had around sixty kids there and a few families came out for the BBQ, which was wonderful. We thought we could reach so many more people if we were a little more public with it,” says DeWalt.

From 1 P.M. to 4:30 P.M. there will be many different activity stations for kids to participate in and enjoy. There will be numerous stations for the kids to choose from, including a chalk and bubble station, a craft station, a snack station, a face painting station, a temporary tattoo station, a sports and games station, and the fan favorite water games station. The kids are welcome to come and go from each station, though the kids will be asked to sign in and out of each station.

At 4:30 P.M. Becky Adams and Bethany DeWalt will present a science show. This event will function as a transitional event, to transition between the kids’ events and the family BBQ. It will feature many chemical reactions that Becky and Bethany have researched and figured out. Many of these chemical reactions result in an explosion and an extremely interesting event. This event will end at 5 P.M.

The final event is the family BBQ that will start at 5 P.M. and finish at 6 P.M. The BBQ is going to be for all the families and anyone from the community that wants to come. They will be serving hotdogs, burgers, chips, pop, and water, and then they will be serving popsicles for dessert.

The Church of God Moose Jaw is excited and ready to give back and show love to their community. If you want to learn more about this Block Party visit their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/cogmj
