Comedy by Bubs once again bringing the laughs with night of stand-up comedy

Five comedians set to perform in show at Timothy Eaton Gardens on Friday, May 27

The first time around was so nice, they’re going to do it twice.

After a well-received first show of laughs and entertainment back in February, Comedy by Bubs is preparing to take the stage once again with a slate of comedians all but guaranteed to make sure you have an evening filled with laughs.

The brainchild of Cory Rokosh, Comedy by Bubs launched in January as a way to offer folks a chance to get out and enjoy live entertainment as the pandemic restrictions became a thing of the past.

“Moose Jaw needs more entertainment, more laughs, and better prices for a night out with friends where laughter is the best medicine,” said Rokosh in a press release announcing the new show. He added that not only had the pandemic affected live entertainment for regular folks, it also had a negative effect on comedians and entertainers who were forced out of work and had no outlet for their creativity.

That’s where Comedy by Bubs stepped in, offering travelling comedians a chance to get back on stage while also bringing some local faces to the limelight at the same time.

“While I am employed full-time, most comedians are still trying to bounce back as bars and events have been opening,” Rokosh said.

Comedy by Bubs will be hosting their second show on Friday, May 27 at Timothy Eaton Gardens, featuring a line-up of five comedians.

Co-headlining the show is Herbert Henries, the world’s only comedy dangerist -- a term Henries himself made up, naturally -- and a former performer on Canada’s Got Talent.  Expect to see ‘dangerous’ stunts and an impressive repertoire of comedy, all on the same stage at the same time!

Henries is joined by comedy veteran Cindy Rivers, who brings an impressive resume of performances all over Canada and the United States, including stops at the Big Pine Comedy Festival, Just for Laughs Northwest and the Los Angeles Diversity in Comedy Festival. Rivers has opened for the likes of Chelsea Handler and Hannah Gadsby as well as Canada’s Drag Race winner Priyanka during the Taste Test Tour. Rivers’ comedy stylings are described as slightly awkward and quirky, but all funny.

Opening acts will include western Canadian comedian Rob Monuik, Saskatoon’s Preston Fontana and, of course, the eponymous Bubs, Rokosh himself.

Comedy by Bubs is an adult show and will feature a cash bar on site.

Tickets are $22.23 each, and are available at www.eventbrite.ca.
