A business on the west end of Moose Jaw will soon be able to expand its operations now that several streets and lanes around the property have been authorized for closure.

During its July 25 regular meeting, city council gave three unanimous readings to a street and lane closure bylaw, which will facilitate the subdivision, sale and consolidation of the streets, laneway and 12 lots south of and adjacent to 1815 Stadacona Street West.

A council report noted these lands were no longer required for vehicle use.

During its June 27 regular meeting, council authorized city administration to proceed with a street and lane closure bylaw for land on Stadacona Street West that includes all of St/L 12, Plan F3370 Ext 13, Block/Par S1, Plan 102272352 and St/L 7, Plan F3370 Ext 8.

Once completed, city administration would proceed with the subdivision and direct land sale to Loraas Equipment South Ltd. of 1815 Stadacona Street West for $30,000 per acre plus GST. This will comprise about 2.70 acres that a legal survey will determine.

The company would be responsible for covering all other associated fees, while the mayor and city clerk would sign the purchase and sales agreement between the City of Moose Jaw and Loraas — also known as 102069948 Saskatchewan Ltd.

The next regular council meeting is Monday, Aug. 8.
