The city has selected KMS Construction as the contractor for Phase Four of the Water Main Replacement Program.
The 2019 program will include 1,600 m of water main replacement, with another 600 m of water mains repaired using water main lining technology.
The first location to undergo water main replacement in Phase Four is Edmonton St. from 10th Avenue to 11th Avenue (234 m).
Temporary water hookups for affected properties will begin the week of June 24.
Construction is expected to take between four to six weeks.
Other 2019 locations include:
- First Ave. NE from Saskatchewan St. E to Caribou St. E (635 m)
- Third Ave. NE from Athabasca St. E to Hochelaga St. E (86 m)
- Main St. N from Hochelaga St. E to Athabasca St. E (102 m)
- Athabasca St. E from Main St. N to First Ave. NE (202 m)
- Fairford St. E from Fifth Ave. NE to Sixth Ave. NE (190 m)
- Stadacona St. W from 12th Ave. NW to 11th Ave. NW (240 m)
Additionally, water main lining technology will be utilized to repair pipes in the following locations:
- Elizabeth St. from Eighth Ave. NW to Ninth Ave. NW
- Main St. N alley from Manitoba St. E to Fairford St. E
Affected Phase Four property owners will be contacted with details on the project and how it will affect them. The city plans to issue regular updates about construction progress and traffic accommodation plans.
KMS Construction is based out of Tuxford. They were also the contractor for Phases One and Three of the Water Main Replacement Program.
