MOOSE JAW – The City of Moose Jaw is providing an update on capital projects and road maintenance operations completed by the Department of Operations and Department of Community Services this year.
Several Engineering projects are underway, with some milestones including:
- Milling and paving of over 1.5 km of roadway and replacement of 145 m of sidewalk as part of the 2025 Road Renewal Project
- Replacement of 172 m of sidewalk as part of the 2025 Sidewalk, Curb, and Gutter Rehabilitation Project
- Inspections of approximately 6.6 km of sanitary and storm sewers via CCTV
- Installation of a 150 kW Natural Gas Standby Generator at the 11th Avenue NW & High Street W Lift Station
- Replacement of the Grit Building Classifier at the Wastewater Treatment Plant
- Completion of Infrastructure Renewal Phase 10 at 4th Avenue SW from Duffield Street W to Coteau Street W, 6th Avenue SW from Grandview Street W to Coteau Street W, and Fairford Street W between Main Street N and 1st Avenue NW.
A selection of tasks completed by Public Works staff include:
- Repairing 25 manholes
- Painting 45 crosswalks
- Painting 7.6 km of lane lines
- Grading 49.6 km of gravel roads, and 9.2 km of back lanes
- Completing 21 water main repairs
- Completing 445.21 tonnes of asphalt repairs, and using 51 tonnes of recycler reclaimed asphalt
The Community Services Department has completed the following capital projects, among others:
- Repairs to the Amphitheatre stairs in Crescent Park
- Upgrades to the parking lot of the Off Leash Dog Park
- Replacement of a paved pathway adjacent to VLA Gate
- Replacement of cooling equipment at the Kinsmen Sportsplex supplying air to the offices and lobby
- Repairs to the Kinsmen Sportsplex waterslide and pool deck tile
- Replacement of the Yara Centre turf
- Construction of a cricket pitch concrete base north of the Kinsmen Sportsplex
