Nominations are now open for the Moose Jaw & District Chamber of Commerce’s Citizen and Group of the Year awards.

The awards are given out each year to those who make a difference in the community through volunteer work.

Nominations can be made through the chamber of commerce website and selecting the “awards” tab on the top of the page.

The nomination must include a 400-word submission explaining why the person or group should be considered for the award.

Chamber CEO Rob Clark says even those who do the small things in the community deserve recognition through a nomination.

“Some people think that it’s too small to put in, send it in anyway because it could be a big thing,” Clark said. “It could mean a lot to a lot of people, plus they get recognized.”

The nomination form also includes a section where photos, testimonials, awards and any other supporting documents can be attached.

“It costs you a few minutes of your time just to type in 400 words explaining why and hit send. It’s only a few key strokes to make somebody feel good,” Clark said.

The deadline for nominations is Jan. 10.

An awards luncheon will be held Jan. 28 at the Heritage Inn where the winners will be named. Tickets are $30 and must be bought in advance at the Moose Jaw Chamber of Commerce
