Canucks hosting 13U AA baseball provincial championship this weekend

Baseball Sask 13U AA Tier 5 tournament kicked off Friday, gold medal games on Sunday afternoon

The Moose Jaw Canucks are hoping that some home cooking and their own beds will help land the local crew a provincial baseball championship.

The Canucks are one of eight teams taking part in the Baseball Sask 13U Tier 5 championship, underway throughout the weekend at Andrie Diamond and Lyle Helland Diamond at Memorial Field.

Moose Jaw put together a 5-17-0 record in the Baseball Regina regular season before falling in two games in the playoffs, but are looking for better things this weekend.

They opened the tournament on Friday night against the Saskatoon La Bat Blue Jays before facing the Dinsmore Dynamos at 12 p.m. on Saturday and wrapping up their round robin against the Kindersley Royals at 6 p.m. at Andrie Diamond.

Pool B features the White Butte Broncos, Eston Ramblers, Saskatoon Blue Jay Longhorns and the Regina White Sox.

The top two teams from each pool advance to the playoff round at 12 p.m. at Andrie and Helland Diamonds, following tiebreakers if necessary at 9 a.m.

The semifinal winners play for Baseball Sask gold at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Helland Diamond.
