REGINA - Jim Duncan is $100,000 wealthier thanks to the Extra he added to his ticket for the March 6 Daily Grand draw.

Duncan purchased his ticket from Callaghan’s AG Foods at 103 Main St. in Avonlea around noon on the day of the draw. He won by matching the last six digits of the winning Extra number — 4346912.

After the draw, he checked his ticket at a local store’s self-checker and saw he had a winning ticket, but he had no idea just how much.

“I thought it was just a free play and then when I took it to the cashier he said ‘It’s locked my terminal up,’” recalled Duncan.

The cashier initially told him he’d won $10,000, but after calling WCLC he realized Duncan had won more – ten times as much.

The Briercrest winner gave the $100,000 winning ticket to his wife and told her, “I think I won a little bit on the lottery.”

His wife also thought that they had won $10,000.

“I told her ‘You better look at it again,’” Duncan recalled with a laugh.

Duncan is still thinking about what to do with his recent windfall.

“There’s nothing I have to have,” he said. “But there’s always some place to spend it!”
