Myles Reichel, a 37-year-old man accused of attempted murder and assault, has been released from custody on several conditions and is scheduled to return to court on Aug. 30.

Reichel made his first appearance in Moose Jaw Provincial Court on July 25, with Merv Nidesh acting as his defence counsel. Crown prosecutor Rob Parker agreed to the man’s release, as long as he followed several conditions and returned to court in a month.

Those conditions include keep the peace and be of good behaviour, attend court when required, report to a bail supervisor, live in an approved residence, see a psychologist or psychiatrist and take treatment or the necessary prescriptions, have no contact with the two victims or be near their home or workplace, not possess firearms or prohibited weapons, allow the police to search his person, home or vehicle when required, and acquire a job.

According to a news release, the Moose Jaw Police Service received a call about a disturbance on the south side of the community at 3:16 p.m. on July 24.

Upon arrival, police located an adult male in a residence who required medical attention after sustaining head trauma. EMS transported the male to the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital before taking him to the Regina General Hospital for further medical care.

The male remains in serious condition.

Officers took Reichel — whom the victim knew — into custody at the scene.

Police continue to investigate the situation.
