Smaller format but still plenty of fun in the cards for annual event at Prairie Storm Paintball

It might not have been clouds over the English Channel that delayed D-Day this time around, but just like the real thing, they’ve found a way to press on.

Joe’s Place Youth Centre announced Thursday that their wildly popular annual D-Day: Juno Beach paintball fundraiser was back on the calendar after having its original September date cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The newly scheduled event will now take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3.

As one might expect, there will be plenty of changes.

First off, the event will be quite a bit smaller than in past years, when players from all over western Canada would descend on Prairie Storm Paintball to battle through the hills and valleys of their facility, re-enacting the famous Second World War battles from the Normandy landings and the Russian front.

This time around, only local players from Saskatchewan will be allowed, with social distancing and limited numbers of players in order to comply with Sask Health guidelines.

That’s all fine and well, though, if it means raising money for the local youth centre in these tough times.

The cost to register is $40 per player, plus paintballs.

Click here to register and for more information on the COVID-19 guidelines that will have to be followed, and be sure to keep an eye on the Joe’s Place Facebook page for an up-to-date schedule closer the day the event.
