Projects in several communities in the Moose Jaw area will go forward, thanks to provincial funding.

The projects have been approved through the Municipal Economic Enhancement Program (MEEP).

Local projects include community hall upgrades in Tuxford (14,400) and adding and upgrading curbstops in Mortlach ($37,513). The town of Gravelbourg has been approved for 16 separate projects totalling $155,568.

Other Moose Jaw area communities that will benefit include:

  • Aylesbury
  • Bethune
  • Bengough
  • Briercrest
  • Caronport
  • Chamberlain
  • Coronach
  • Craik
  • Drinkwater
  • Elbow
  • Marquis
  • Mossbank
  • Willow Bunch

A complete list of the projects is available online.

“These shovel-ready projects contribute to the economic recovery of the province,” Government Relations Minister Lori Carr said in a press release. “The provincial funding flowing to our municipalities will support local job creation and help build a Saskatchewan that is as strong as the people who call this great province home.”

The $150 million MEEP was announced in May. It is a part of the Government of Saskatchewan’s $7.5 billion, two-year capital plan to stimulate economic recovery in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

MEEP 2020 funding must be used by municipalities by March 31, 2022.
