Mounties are considering two Port Alberni men as suspects in the murders of Lucas Fowler and Chynna Deese on the Alaska Highway, and the death of a man on Highway 37 near Dease Lake.
Kam McLeod, 19, and Bryer Schmegelsky, 18, are considered dangerous and last seen in northern Saskatchewan.
They were last seen driving a grey 2011 Toyota RAV 4.
Anyone with information on their whereabouts is urged to call 9-1-1 immediately and to not approach them.
They may be driving a different vehicle and may have changed their appearances, police say.
"We believe that they're likely continuing to travel but we don't have a possible destination," Sgt. Janelle Shoihet said this morning (July 23).
Investigators have new information that leads them to believe they are suspects in all three deaths, Shoihet said.
She added police agencies across Canada have been notified about the two wanted men.
McLeod is described as:
- 6'4"
- Approximately 169 pounds
- Dark brown hair and facial hair
- Brown eyes
Schmegelsky is described as:
- 6'4"
- Approximately 169 pounds
- Sandy brown hair
Fowler and Deese were found shot to death outside their van south of Liard Hot Springs in northeast B.C. on July 15.
McLeod and Schmegelsky are also suspects in the death of an older man whose body was found near their burning pickup truck south of Dease Lake near the Stikine River in northwest B.C. on Friday (July 19).
Police are still trying to identify the man.
McLeod and Schmegelsky were originally considered missing.
Police couldn't immediately say whether the two men have prior criminal records.
