The number of residents who voted in the advance polls this year was almost double that of those who voted in the 2016 advance polls, data shows.

The City of Moose Jaw held seven advance polls between the end of October and the first week of November. The results from those polls show 2,074 residents voted, which is 850 more than the 1,224 ballots cast in the advance polls in 2016, a city news release said. The 2,074 votes represent roughly eight per cent of all eligible voters in Moose Jaw, which this year is estimated at 25,900.

Election Day is Monday, Nov. 9, and there are four polling stations at which to vote: three polls at the Moose Jaw Exhibition Convention Centre at 250 Thatcher Drive East and one poll at Church of Our Lady at 566 Vaughan Street.

The municipality is offering free bus transit on election day, while a special election shuttle with service to the exhibition grounds will begin at 8:35 a.m. City hall encourages everyone to wear masks on city buses and at polling stations.
