UPDATED: Authorities confirm 20 vehicles involved in Monday collision on Highway 1

Drivers should slow down when travelling through the area

Several semi-trucks and trailers were involved in an accident on Highway 1 on March 29.

A multi-vehicle accident on Highway 1 just outside of Moose Jaw yesterday has slowed traffic heading west this morning, with several of the involved vehicles still on location.

The accident occurred on Monday in the westbound lane of the highway, near the Thatcher Drive exit into the city. 

At least four semi-trucks and trailers were left in the ditch and several others parked alongside the road.

Authorities were on the scene this morning, including tow trucks and the Saskatchewan Highway Patrol, and emergency crews are working to clear the area. 

Highway traffic is still flowing, although drivers are asked to slow down to 60 km/h when passing emergency vehicles in the area.

Police have not yet confirmed further details regarding the incident. More information will be shared as it is made available.

UPDATE:

Moose Jaw Police have confirmed that members an emergency call regarding the accident on Highway 1 just after 4 p.m. on Monday, with first responders attending the scene immediately.

At least 20 vehicles were involved in the collision, said MJPS. There were no serious or life-threatening injuries related to the accident, although EMS did transport some drivers to hospital due to minor injuries.

The MJPS also said that weather and road conditions were a factor in the incident.
