AAA Warriors reach playoffs at Mac's

Moose Jaw finishes round robin with 3-3 tie with St. Albert, taking on Chicago in quarter-final

The Moose Jaw AAA Warriors didn't get the definitive result they were hoping for against the St. Albert Nektar Raiders to close out the round robin portion of the Mac's Midget AAA hockey tournament, but it was impressive nonetheless.

Connor McGrath scored on the power play with 22 seconds remaining to salvage a 3-3 tie with the Alberta AAA league-leading Raiders, with his goal coming only 2:19 after Caelan Fitzpatrick's marker with the man advantage pulled the Tribe to within one.

Kirk Mullen got the Warriors on the board in the first, tying the game 1-1 with 4:38 to play in the frame, but that would be the only goal they'd score until the late-game heroics.

Chase Coward made 31 saves in the win.

The victory gave Moose Jaw a 3-0-1 record through the round robin, one of only three unbeaten teams in the tournament – the Chicago Mission went 4-0-0 and Prince Albert Raiders 2-0-2.

Sure enough, the Warriors faced Chicago in the quarter-final on Tuesday morning, with game currently underway. Be sure to check back later for an update.
