A Christmas Long Ago at the Western Development Museum

Children and adults alike stepped into Christmas at grandmother and grandfather’s house in 1910 as part of the Western Development Museum’s Christmas Long Ago program.

Children and adults alike stepped into Christmas at grandmother and grandfather’s house in 1910 as part of the Western Development Museum’s Christmas Long Ago program.

Visitors had the opportunity to see how rugs were cleaned and clothes were washed in that era as the family prepares for guests at Christmas.

The program explained how families celebrated Christmas around a wood-burning fireplace and Christmas supper was cooked in a wood cook stove.

Participants also had the chance to see what kind of gifts were given in 1910 and how houses were decorated with homemade decorations.

The programs runs Dec. 21 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and Dec. 24 at 10 a.m.

For more information or to register contact the Western Development Museum. The cost is the museum’s general admission.
