98 new COVID-19 cases, 14 in the South Central

There are 98 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan, as of Nov. 19.

The new cases are located in the Regina (25), South Central (14), North West (12), North Central (12), Saskatoon (10), Central East (5), South East (5),  North East (5), Far North East (3), Far North West (2), and Central West (1) zones.

All 14 cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Four new cases have pending residence information.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) says that "weather and logistical impediments resulted in a volume of specimens reaching the Roy Romanow Provincial Laboratory after the reporting period for November 19."

There are now 5,651 reported cases, including 2,066 active cases.  

Eighty-three people are in hospital. Sixty-two people are receiving inpatient care — 30 in Saskatoon, 11 in the South East zone, six in Regina, five in the North West, five in North Central, two in the North East, two in the South West, and one in South Central. Twenty-one people are in intensive care — nine in Saskatoon, five in Regina, four in North Central, two in Central East, and one in South West.

One hundred and thirty-two more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 3,553 recoveries.

Of the 5,651 cases in the province:

  • 419 cases are travelers;
  • 2,490 are community contacts (including mass gatherings);
  • 1,176 have no known exposures; and
  • 1,566 are under investigation by local public health.

On a regional level:

  • 1,628 cases are from the Saskatoon area; 
  • 1,208 cases are from the north area (402 north west, 564 north central, 242 north east);
  • 836 cases are from the Regina area;
  • 749 cases are from the south area (279 south west, 313 south central, 157 south east);
  • 701 cases are from the far north area (509 far north west, 50 far north central, 142 far north east); and
  • 503 cases are from the central area (226 central west, 277 central east).

Thirty-two deaths have been reported to date.

A total of 307,264 COVID-19 tests have been processed in Saskatchewan. Yesterday, 2,004 COVID-19 tests were processed.
