One Saskatchewan resident who tested positive for COVID-19 has died. The individual was reported in the 60 to 69 age group from the Saskatoon zone.
That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 399.
There are 97 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Mar. 8, 2021.
The new cases are located in the Regina (50), Central East (12), North Central (10), Saskatoon (6), Far North East (5), North West (4), North East (3), South Central (2), South East (2), and Far North West (1) zones.
Two cases are pending residence information.
Both of the new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.
The provincial laboratory is reporting an additional three confirmed cases of the B1.1.7 U.K. variant. Two cases are in the Regina zone and one is in the North West Zone.
This brings the provincial total of confirmed variant cases to nine: eight of the B1.1.7 U.K. variant and one B1.351 South America variant.
There are now 29,806 reported cases, including 1,463 active cases.
The seven-day average of daily new cases is 144 (11.7 new cases per 100,000).
An additional 1,428 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 91,884.
The 829 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered in the following regions: North Central (528), Saskatoon (347), and Far North Central (17).

One hundred and forty people are in hospital. One hundred and seventeen people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Saskatoon (47), Regina (40), North West (11), North Central (8), Far North West (3), Central East (3), South East (3). Far North East (1), and North East (1). Twenty-three people are in intensive care in the following zones: Saskatoon (12), Regina (8), Central East (2), and North Central (1).
One hundred and fifty-one more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 27,944 recoveries.
There were 1,753 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on Mar. 7. To date, 595,869 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
