94 new COVID-19 cases, 70 recoveries

The new cases are located in the following zones: Saskatoon (25), Central West (11), North West (9), Regina (9), North Central (7), South Central (7), North East (5), Far North West (4), South East (4), South West (3), Central East (2), and Far North East (1)

There are 94 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on June 17, 2021. 

The new cases are located in the following zones: Saskatoon (25), Central West (11), North West (9), Regina (9), North Central (7), South Central (7), North East (5), Far North West (4), South East (4), South West (3), Central East (2), and Far North East (1).  

Four of the seven new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Seven new cases are pending residence information.  

One Saskatchewan resident tested positive, but was not previously included in the total cases. They have now been added to the total case count.  

One case with pending residence information was assigned to the South East zone. 

No new deaths are being reported today. However, an individual in the 80-plus age group in Regina previously listed as fatal is now being listed as resolved, correcting the total COVID-19 related death in Saskatchewan to 561.

There are now 48,220 reported cases, including 752 active cases.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 75 (6.1 per 100,000). 

As of June 16, 11,847 variants of concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the following zones: Regina (4,760), Saskatoon (2,056), South East (1,114), South Central (875), North West (756), Central East (634), North Central (597), South West (398), Far North West (288), Central West (141), Far North East (80), North East (79), and Far North Central (1). There are 68 screened VOCs with residence pending.

No new lineage results were reported for Variants of Concern today.  Of the 6,443 VOCs with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 6,134 are Alpha (B.1.1.7), 231 are Gamma (P.1), 68 are Delta (B.1.617.2) and 10 are Beta (B.1.351).

An additional 15,402 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 937,737.

The 15,402 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following zones: Regina (4,478), Saskatoon (4,545), North Central (1,423), Central East (1,051), North West (891), South East (875), South Central (479), South West (324), North East (318), Central West (295), Far North West (225), Far North East (132), and Far North Central (8). There were 358 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

There are 87 people in hospital. Seventy-eight people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Saskatoon (29), Regina (21), North West (10), North Central (8), Central East (3), South Central (3), South East (2), Far North West (1), and South West (1). Nine people are in intensive care in the following zones: Saskatoon (6) and Regina (3). 

Seventy more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 46,907 recoveries.

There were 2,301 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on June 16. To date, 895,631 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
