90 new COVID-19 cases, 2 deaths reported, 177 recoveries

There are two new deaths to report today, both in the 80-plus age group. One death was reported in the North Central Zone, while the other death was reported in the North West zone. 

That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 551.

There are 90 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on June 8, 2021. 

The new cases are located in the following zones: Regina (16), North West (15), North Central (15), Saskatoon (14), North East (7), South East (5), Far North West (4), Far North East (4), Central West (4), South Central (3), and Central East (1). 

Two of the new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Two cases are pending residence information. 

Eight cases with pending residence information have been assigned to the North West (7) and Regina (1) zones.

There are now 47,517 reported cases, including 1,053 active cases.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 97 (7.9 per 100,000).  

As of June 7, 11,347 variants of concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the following zones: Regina (4,709), Saskatoon (1,893), South East (1,103), South Central (829), North West (693), Central East (619), North Central (522), South West (388), Far North West (268), Central West (116), North East (71), Far North East (69), and Far North Central (1). There are 66 screened VOCs with residence pending.

New lineage results were reported for 128 VOC today. Of the 6,115 VOCs with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 5,866 are B.1.1.1.7 (UK), 194 are P.1 (Brazilian), 45 are B.1.617 (Indian) and 10 are B.1.351 (SA).

An additional 6,724 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 816,124. 

The 6,724 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following zones: Regina (2,459), Saskatoon (1,837), North West (754), North Central (538), Central East (380), South East (264), South Central (121), Central West (76), North East (72), Far North East (51), South West (22), Far North West (18), and Far North Central (6). There were 126 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

There are 104 people in hospital. Eighty-six people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Regina (30), Saskatoon (26), North West (13), North Central (5), Central East (4), South Central (4), South West (2), Far North West (1), and South East (1). Eighteen people are in intensive care, including one out-of-province transfer from Manitoba, in the following zones: Saskatoon (8), Regina (6), Central East (2), North West (1), and North Central (1). 

One hundred and seventy-seven more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 45,913 recoveries. 

There were 1,643 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on June 7. To date, 877,438 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
