87 new COVID-19 cases, 1 death reported, 114 recoveries

One Saskatchewan resident who tested positive for COVID-19 has died. The death was reported in the 80-plus age group from the North West zone.

That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 410.

There are 87 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Mar. 17, 2021.

The new cases are located in the Regina (27), Saskatoon (20), North East (8), Central East (7), Far North East (5), North West (5), South East (5), Far North West (2), South Central (2), North Central (1), and South West (1) zones.  

Both of the new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Four new cases are pending residence information.  

Six previously reported cases with pending residence information were assigned to the North Central (5) and Regina (1) zones.

There are now 30,970 reported cases, including 1,264 active cases.  

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 135 (11.0 new cases per 100,000).  

As of Mar. 17, there are no new confirmed variants of concern (VOC) cases to report. There are 135 confirmed variants of concern cases in Saskatchewan, including 129 B1.1.1.7 (UK) and six B1.351 (SA). One previously reported B1.1.1.7 (UK) variant case was identified as a duplicate and removed.  

In addition to the confirmed cases, there are currently 313 presumptive VOC cases reported in the Regina (264), South Central (23), South East (14), Saskatoon (6), Central East (5), and Far North East (1) zones.

An additional 4,096 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 112,764.

The 4,096 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered in the following regions: Regina (2,392), Saskatoon (635), North West (576), North East (133), Central West (131), South West (75), Far North East (62), North Central (50), Far North West (21), Central East (11), and Far North Central (10), A total of 1,878 were delivered at the Regina drive thru clinic location alone.

One hundred thirty-nine people are in hospital. One hundred and eight people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Regina (42), Saskatoon (42), Central East (7), North West (6), North Central (5), Far North West (2), Far North East (1), South West (1), South Central (1), and South East (1). Thirty-one people are in intensive care in the following zones: Saskatoon (15), Regina (11), Central East (3), North West (1), and South Central (1).

One hundred and fourteen more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 29,296 recoveries.

There were 2,597 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on Mar. 16. To date, 617,664 COVID-19 tests have been processed .
