73 new COVID-19 cases, 119 recoveries

There are 73 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on June 6, 2021. 

The new cases are located in the following zones: Saskatoon (26), Regina (13), North West (9), North Central (8), South Central (7), Central East (6), Central West (2), Far North East (1), and South East (1). 

Six of the seven new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Five previously reported cases have been assigned to the Regina (3) and Far North East (2) zones.  

One case tested out-of-province with location pending was added to the total case counts.

There are now 47,359 reported cases, including 1,196 active cases.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 103 (8.4 per 100,000).  

There are no new deaths to report today. The provincial total remains at 546.

As of June 5, 11,236 variants of concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the following zones: Regina (4,696), Saskatoon (1,877), South East (1,095), South Central (818), North West (659), Central East (611), North Central (513), South West (385), Far North West (263), Central West (116), North East (68), Far North East (66), and Far North Central (1). There are 68 screened VOCs with residence pending.

No new lineage results were reported for Variants of Concern today. Of the 5,987 VOCs with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 5,753 are B.1.1.1.7 (UK), 187 are P.1 (Brazilian), 37 are B.1.617 (Indian) and 10 are B.1.351 (SA).

An additional 13,642 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 800,772. 

The 13,642 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following zones: Regina (2,826), Saskatoon (2,672), South Central (1,413), South East (1,227), Central East (1,027), North Central (1,024), North East (967), North West (686), Central West (647), South West (423), Far North West (341), Far North East (85), and Far North Central (6). There were 298 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

There are 101 people in hospital. Eighty-two people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Regina (29), Saskatoon (27), North West (11), Central East (4), North Central (3), South Central (3), Far North West (2), North East (1), Central West (1), and South East (1). Nineteen people are in intensive care, including two out-of-province transfers from Manitoba, in the following zones: Saskatoon (10), Regina (5), Central East (2), North Central (1), and South West (1). 

One hundred and nineteen more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 45,617 recoveries. 

There were 1,820 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on June 5. To date, 874,530 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
