68 new COVID-19 cases, 3 deaths reported, 119 recoveries

There are three new deaths to report today. One death was reported in the 60 to 69 age group in the North Central Zone, one death was reported in the 19 and under age group in the North West zone, and one death was reported in the 70 to 79 group, also in the North West zone.

That brings the number of deaths in the province to 549.

There are 68 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on June 7, 2021. 

The new cases are located in the following zones: Saskatoon (15), Central East (13), North West (12), Regina (9), North Central (9), South Central (7), Far North East (2), and North East (1).

Six of the seven new cases reported in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

There are now 47,427 reported cases, including 1,142 active cases. That is the lowest active case total since November 8, 2020.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 97 (7.9 per 100,000), the lowest active case total since November 8, 2020.

As of June 6, 11,253 variants of concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the following zones: Regina (4,698), Saskatoon (1,877), South East (1,098), South Central (819), North West (666), Central East (613), North Central (514), South West (386), Far North West (264), Central West (115), North East (68), Far North East (66), Far North Central (1). There are 68 screened VOCs with residence pending.

No new lineage results were reported for Variants of Concern today. Of the 5,987 VOCs with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 5,753 are B.1.1.1.7 (UK), 187 are P.1 (Brazilian), 37 are B.1.617 (Indian) and 10 are B.1.351 (SA).

An additional 8,628 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 809,400. 

The 8,628 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following zones: Saskatoon (1,896), Regina (1,823), South East (1,024), Central East (932), North West (911), North Central (628), South West (278), North East (263), Central West (229), South Central (181), Far North West (179), Far North East (8), and Far North Central (3). There were 273 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

There are 102 people in hospital. Eighty-three people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Regina (30), Saskatoon (27), North West (10), North Central (4), Central East (4), South Central (3), Far North West (2), Central West (1), South West (1), and South East (1). Nineteen people are in intensive care, including one out-of-province transfer from Manitoba, in the following zones: Saskatoon (10), Regina (6), Central East (2), and North Central (1).

One hundred and nineteen more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 45,736 recoveries. 

There were 1,265 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on June 6. To date, 875,795 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
