56 new COVID-19 cases, 3 deaths reported, 158 recoveries

Three Saskatchewan residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. Two deaths were reported in the 80-plus age group from the Saskatoon (1) and Central East (1) zones, with one death in the 60 to 69 age group from the North West zone.

That brings the number of deaths in the province to 379.

There are 56 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Feb. 24, 2021. That is the lowest number of daily cases reported in the province in 2021.

The new cases are located in the Regina (16), Far North East (15), Saskatoon (6), Far North West (5), North Central (5), Far North Central (2), North West (2), Central East (1), South Central (1), and South East (1) zones.

The new case in the South Central is located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Two cases have pending residence information.  

Eighteen previously reported cases with pending residence information were assigned to the North Central (8), North West (7), Regina (2), and Far North East (1) zones.  

One Saskatchewan resident who tested positive out of province has been added to the North West zone.

There are now reported 27,980 cases, including 1,425 active cases.

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 146 (11.9 new cases per 100,000).

There were 683 COVID-19 vaccine doses administered yesterday in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 63,345.  

The 683 doses were administered in the Saskatoon (318), Regina (289), Far North West (43), and Far North Central (33), zones. On Feb. 22, an additional 318 doses were administered in the Saskatoon zone and an additional two doses were administered in the Central East zone.

One hundred and sixty-five people are in hospital. One hundred and forty-eight people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Saskatoon (54), Regina (41), North Central (14), North West (12), Far North West (7), Central East (6), South East (4), South Central (3), Far North Central (2), Far North East (2), North East (2), and Central West (1). Seventeen people are in intensive care in the following zones: Saskatoon (8), Regina (6), North West (2), and North Central (1).

One hundred and fifty-eight more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 26,176 recoveries.

There were 2,155 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on Feb. 23. To date, 565,210 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
