415 new COVID-19 cases, 4 deaths reported

Four residents who have tested positive for COVID-19 have died. Two individuals were in their 60s from the Regina and Far North zones and two individuals were in their 70s from the South zone. That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 59.

There are 415 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan, as of Dec. 6, 2020.

The new cases are located in the Saskatoon (205), Regina (60), North Central (39), North West (26), Far North East (18), Far North West (15), South Central (12), Central East (10), North East (10), South West (6), South East (6), and Central West (5) zones.

Ten of the 12 new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority notes that "case numbers reported today from Saskatoon reflect the correction from yesterday due to a data-related issue that has now been corrected."

Three new cases have pending residence information.

Five Saskatchewan residents who tested positive out-of-province were added to the total, including four in the Saskatoon zone. One case has pending residence information. Eleven cases were found to be out-of-province residents and were removed from the counts. Three of these cases were previously assigned to the North West, Central West, and South East, and eight cases had pending residence information. 

Six previously reported cases with pending residence information have been assigned to the North Central (4), North East (1), and Central East (1). 

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 272 (22.4 new cases per 100,000 population).

There are now 10,139 reported cases, including 4,550 active cases.  

One hundred thirty-five people are in hospital. One hundred and nine people are receiving inpatient care — 45 in Saskatoon, 19 in the South East, 18 in Regina, 13 in the North Central, eight in the North West, three in the South West, one in the North East, one in the Central East, and one in the South Central. Twenty-six people are in intensive care — 12 in Saskatoon, nine in Regina, and five in the North Central.

Forty-six more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 5,530 recoveries.

Of the 10,139 cases in the province:

  • 501 cases are travelers;
  • 4,244 are community contacts (including mass gatherings);
  • 2,382 have no known exposures; and
  • 3,012 are under investigation by local public health. 

On a regional level:

  • 3,065 cases are from the Saskatoon area;
  • 2,076 cases are from the north area (736 north west, 999 north central, 341 north east);
  • 1,940 cases are from the Regina area;
  • 1,282 cases are from the south area (502 south west, 449 south central, 331 south east);
  • 1,054 cases are from the far north area (659 far north west, 83 far north central, 312 far north east);
  • 690 cases are from the central area (297 central west, 393 central east); and
  • 32 cases have pending residence information.

A total of 364,392 COVID-19 tests have been processed in Saskatchewan. Yesterday, 3,846 COVID-19 tests were processed.
