312 new COVID-19 cases, 8 deaths reported, 203 recoveries

Eight Saskatchewan residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. Six deaths were reported from the Regina zone in the 40 to 49 age group (1), 60 to 69 age group (2), 70 to 79 age group (1), and two in the 80-plus age group. One death was reported in the 80-plus age group in the Central East zone, while one death was reported in the 60 to 69 age group in the Saskatoon zone. That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 247.

There are 312 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Jan. 22, 2021.

The new cases are located in the Saskatoon (88), Regina (47), North West (40), North Central (39), North East (20), Far North East (14), Central East (14), South East (14), Far North West (11), Central West (7), South Central (4), Far North Central (1), and South West (1) zones.

All four of the new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Twelve new cases have pending residence information.

Seven cases with pending residence information were assigned to the Far North West (5), North Central (1), and Saskatoon (1) zones.

Seven previously reported cases have been found to be out-of-province residents and removed from the counts.

There are now 21,643 reported cases, including 3,196 active cases.

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 275 (22.7 new cases per 100,000 population). 

There were 1,448 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered yesterday in Saskatchewan. That brings the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 31,275. As of Jan. 22, 96 per cent of the doses received have been administered in Saskatchewan.

The doses were administered in the following zones: Regina (381), North West (358), South East (287), Saskatoon (202), North Central (101), Central East (73), North East (22), Far North West (10), Far North East (10), and Far North Central (4) zones.  An additional 46 doses, not previously reported, were administered in Saskatoon on Jan. 20.

One hundred and seventy-seven people are in hospital. One hundred and forty-seven people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Saskatoon (54), Regina (39), North Central (17), North West (12), Central East (9), South East (7), Far North West (4), North East (2), Central West (1), South West (1), and South Central (1). Thirty people are in intensive care in the following zones: Saskatoon (14), Regina (9), North Central (4), North West (2), and South Central (1).

Two hundred and three more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 18,200 recoveries.

There were 3,147 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on Jan. 21. To date, 485,003 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
