300 new COVID-19 cases, 1 death reported, 253 recoveries

One Saskatchewan resident who tested positive for COVID-19 has died. The death was reported in the 60 to 69 range in the Regina zone.

That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 455.

There are 300 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on April 12, 2021.

The new cases are located in the Regina (96), Saskatoon (72), Central East (22), South East (22), North West (17), South Central (17), Central West (15), South West (10), North Central (9), Far North West (4), Far North East (3), and North East (1) zones.

Fourteen of the 17 new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area. 

Twelve new cases have pending residence information.

Three previously reported cases with pending residence information have been assigned to the Regina (2) and Central West (1) zones.

Four cases were found to be out-of-province residents and removed from Saskatoon (1), South East (1), and pending (2) counts.Three cases not previously reported were added to the Saskatoon zone.  

There are now 36,604 reported cases, including 2,549 active cases.

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 261 (21.3 new cases per 100,000).

As of April 12, 3,485 variants of concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the Regina (2,423), South East (348), South Central (309), Saskatoon (181), Central East (94), North Central (39), South West (33), North West (13), Central West (13), Far North West (7), North East (3), and Far North East (1) zones. There are 21 cases with residence pending.

There are zero new lineage results being reported today. Of the 1,435 VOCs with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 1,426 are B.1.1.1.7 (UK) and nine are B.1.351 (SA).

An additional 8,856 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 290,921.  

The 8,856 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following regions: Regina (2,881), Saskatoon (1,752), South East (1,040), Central East (896), South Central (542), South West (461), Central West (343), North Central (332), North West (274), North East (62), Far North East (48), and Far North West (6). There were 219 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

One hundred and ninety-eight people are in hospital. One hundred and fifty-seven people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Regina (77), Saskatoon (46), Central East (10), North Central (7), South East (7), North West (4), Far North West (2), North East (2), Far North East (1), South West (1). Forty-one people are in intensive care in the following zones: Regina (26), Saskatoon (5), North Central (3), Central East (3), South Central (3), and South West (1).

Two hundred and fifty-three more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 33,600 recoveries.

There were 3,093 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on April 11. To date, 707,648 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
