280 new COVID-19 cases, 190 recoveries

There are 280 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on April 3, 2021.

The new cases are located in the Regina (127), Saskatoon (51), South East (24), South Central (20), North West (18), North East (11), Central East (10), Far North West (6), South West (6), North Central (3), Far North East (1), and Central West (1) zones.

Nineteen of the 20 new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Two new cases have pending residence information.

One previously reported case has been assigned to the North West (1) zone.  

There are now 34,323 reported cases, including 2,143 active cases.  

There are no new deaths to report today. The total number of deaths was incorrectly reported yesterday as 437 and should be 436, as the Saskatchewan Health Authority says a death was previously incorrectly reported.

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 220 (17.9 new cases per 100,000).  

As of April 2, 2,226 VOCs have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the Regina (1,578), South Central (173) and South East (157), Saskatoon (117), Central East (32), North Central (16), Central West (12), South West (7), Far North East (2) and North West (1) zones.

There are 131 cases with area of residence pending.

There are zero new lineage results being reported today. Of the 949 VOCs with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 941 are B1.1.1.7 (UK) and eight are B1.351 (SA).  

An additional 5,504 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 214,246.

The 5,504 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered in the following regions: Saskatoon (1,854), Regina (1,318), Central East (1,035), South Central (462), South West (383), North West (283), South East (158), and Far North West (11).

One hundred eighty-nine people are in hospital. One hundred and forty-seven people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Regina (72), Saskatoon (41), Central East (12), North West (9), South East (9), North Central (2), Far North East (1), and South Central (1). Forty-two people are in intensive care in the following zones: Regina (26), Saskatoon (9), South Central (3), North Central (2), and Central East (2).

One hundred and ninety more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 31,744 recoveries.

There were 3,336 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on April 2. To date, 677,547 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
