274 new COVID-19 cases, 1 death reported

One resident who tested positive for COVID-19 has died. This individual was in their 60s from the Regina zone. That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 60.

There are 274 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan, as of Dec. 7, 2020.

The new cases are located in the Regina (80), Saskatoon (72), North Central (28), North West (26), Far North West (21), South East (12), South West (8), Central East (7), Far North East (6), North East (6), South Central (4), and Far North Central (1) zones.

All four of the new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Three new cases have pending residence information.

One case with pending residence information has been assigned to the Saskatoon zone. Another case with pending residence information has been deemed a non-Saskatchewan resident and removed from the case counts.

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 264 (21.8 new cases per 100,000 population).

There are now 10,412 reported cases, including 4,763 active cases.  

One hundred forty-three people are in hospital. One hundred and seventeen people are receiving inpatient care — 48 in Saskatoon, 24 in Regina, 19 in the South East, 12 in the North Central, nine in the North West, two in the South West, one in the North East, one in the Central East, and one in the South Central. Twenty-six people are in intensive care: 11 in Saskatoon, eight in Regina, six in the North Central, and one in the South West.

Fifty-nine more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 5,589 recoveries.

Of the 10,412 cases in the province:

  • 504 cases are travelers;
  • 4,300 are community contacts (including mass gatherings);
  • 2,400 have no known exposures; and
  • 3,208 are under investigation by local public health. 

On a regional level:

  • 3,138 cases are from the Saskatoon area;
  • 2,136 cases are from the north area (762 north west, 1027 north central, 347 north east);
  • 2,020 cases are from the Regina area;
  • 1,306 cases are from the south area (510 south west, 453 south central, 343 south east);
  • 1,082 cases are from the far north area (680 far north west, 84 far north central, 318 far north east);
  • 697 cases are from the central area (297 central west, 400 central east); and
  • 33 cases have pending residence information.

A total of 367,396 COVID-19 tests have been processed in Saskatchewan. Yesterday, 3,004 COVID-19 tests were processed.
