270 new COVID-19 cases, 2 deaths reported, 235 recoveries

Two Saskatchewan residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. Both were from the Regina zone, with one reported death in the 60 to 69 age group and one in the 80-plus age group. That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 212.

There are 270 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Jan. 16, 2021.

The new cases are located in the Saskatoon (68), North West (49), Regina (47), South East (26), North Central (23), Far North East (15), North East (13), Far North West (10), South Central (6), Central East (5), and Far North Central (1) zones.

Four of the new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Seven new cases have pending residence information.

Twelve cases with pending residence information were assigned to the North Central (6), Far North East (2), Far North West (1), North West (1), Saskatoon (1), and South West (1) zones.

There are now 19,985 reported cases, including 4,043 active cases. 

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 311 (25.7 new cases per 100,000 population).

Two hundred and thirty-five more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 15,730 recoveries.

There were 2,857 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered yesterday in Saskatchewan. That is the highest one-day total to date. This brings the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 16,927.

The doses were administered in the following zones: Saskatoon (893), Prince Albert (857), North East (426), South East (285), Regina (267), and Far North West (129). The Far North Central reported an additional 53 vaccines administered on Jan. 14, not previously reported. No data for Jan. 15 is available at this time.

One hundred and ninety-nine people are in hospital. One hundred and sixty-four people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Saskatoon (55), Regina (34), North Central (30), North West (10), North East (10), South East (10), Central East (7), Far North West (3), Far North Central (1), Far North East (1), Central West (1), South West (1), and South Central (1). Thirty-five people are in intensive care in the following zones: Saskatoon (17), Regina (9), North Central (5), North West (2), Central East (1), and South Central (1).

There were 3,071 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on January 15, 2021. To date, 468,461 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
