Three Saskatchewan residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. One death was reported in the 60 to 69 age group from the Far North East zone. Two deaths were reported in the Regina zone, including one in the 60 to 69 age group and one in the 80-plus age group. That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 253.
There are 260 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Jan. 24, 2021.
The new cases are located in the Saskatoon (72), North West (52), Regina (42), Far North West (26), South East (17), North Central (14), Central East (11), North East (9), Central West (6), South Central (4), Far North East (3), Far North Central (1), and South West (1) zones.
Two of the new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.
Two new cases have pending residence information.
Eight cases with pending residence information were assigned to the North West (4), North Central (3), and Far North West (1) zones.
There are now 22,177 reported cases, including 3,251 active cases.
The seven-day average of daily new cases is 272 (22.5 new cases per 100,000 population).
There were 642 doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered yesterday in Saskatchewan. This brings the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 33,039. As of Jan. 23, 101 per cent of the doses received have been administered. The government says this overage is due to "efficiencies in drawing extra doses from vials of vaccine received."
The doses were administered in the following zones: North West (261), South East (233), and Saskatoon (148) zones.
One hundred and ninety-six people are in hospital. One hundred and sixty-four people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Saskatoon (68), Regina (36), North Central (23), North West (13), Central East (8), South East (6), Far North West (4), Central West (3), North East (1), South West (1), and South Central (1). Thirty-two people are in intensive care in the following zones: Saskatoon (15), Regina (9), North Central (4), North West (2), Central East (1), and South Central (1).
One hundred and sixty-eight more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 18,673 recoveries.
There were 2,684 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on Jan. 23. To date, 490,939 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
