There is one new death to report today in the 50 to 59 age group in the South Central zone.
That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 470.
There are 254 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on April 22, 2021.
The new cases are located in the Regina (76), Saskatoon (31), South East (29), Central East (19), North West (18), South Central (17), Far North West (14), South West (14), North Central (12), Far North East (9), North East (7), and Central West (4) zones.
Fourteen of the 17 new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.
Four new cases have pending residence information.
Five previously reported cases with pending residence information have been assigned to the South East (3) and Regina (2) zones.
There are now 39,137 reported cases, including 2,505 active cases.
The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number was 248 (20.2 new cases per 100,000).
As of April 21, 5,521 variants of concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the Regina (3,206), South East (575), Saskatoon (560), South Central (432), Central East (229), South West (136), North West (108), Central West (75), North Central (71), Far North West (49), North East (8), and Far North East (2) zones. There are 70 screened VOCs with residence pending.
There are zero new lineage results reported today. Of the 2,060 VOCs with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 2,046 are B.1.1.1.7 (UK), nine (9) are B.1.351 (SA) and five (5) are P.1. (Brazilian).
An additional 7,333 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 372,334.
The 7,333 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following regions: Saskatoon (1,222), Regina (962), North Central (823), North East (776), South East (772), Central West (534), Central East (496), South Central (350), South West (328), Far North East (281), North West (248), Far North West (240), and Far North Central (43). There were 258 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

One hundred and seventy-seven people are in hospital. One hundred and twenty-nine people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Regina (53), Saskatoon (43), Central East (8), South East (8). North Central (6), North West (5), South Central (4), Far North East (1), and South West (1). Forty-eight people are in intensive care in the following zones: Regina (34), Saskatoon (8), Central East (3), North Central (2), and South West (1).
Two hundred and ninety-nine more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 36,162 recoveries.
There were 3,706 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on April 21, 2021. To date, 741,278 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
