One Saskatchewan resident who tested positive for COVID-19 has died. The death was reported in the 60 to 69 age group in the Saskatoon zone.
That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 437.
There are 254 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on April 2, 2021.
The new cases are located in the Regina (112), Saskatoon (36), South East (31), South Central (22), North West (13), North Central (12), North East (9), Central East (8), Far North East (3), and Far North West (1) zones.
All 22 of the new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.
Seven new cases have pending residence information.
Two cases have been assigned to the Regina (1) and North West (1) zones.
There are now 34,043 reported cases, including 2,053 active cases.
The seven-day average of daily new cases is 212 (17.3 new cases per 100,000).
As of April 1, 1,951 variants of concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the Regina (1,419), South Central (151), South East (127), Saskatoon (72), Central East (30), North Central (12), Central West (8), South West (7), and Far North East (2) zones. There are 123 cases with area of residence pending.
There are 61 new lineage results being reported today. Of the 949 VOCs with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 941 are B1.1.1.7 (UK) and eight are B1.351 (SA).
An additional 8,109 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 208,742.
The 8,109 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered in the following regions: Saskatoon (2,225), Regina (1,911), Central East (1,599), North East (604), North Central (500), North West (413), Far North West (242), South West (242), South East (224), Far North East (138), and Central West (11)

One hundred ninety-three people are in hospital. One hundred and fifty-six people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Regina (80), Saskatoon (48), Central East (10), South East (7), North West (6), North Central (2), South Central (2), and Far North East (1). Thirty-seven people are in intensive or critical care in the following zones: Regina (23), Saskatoon (9), North Central (2), Central East (1), North West (1), and South Central (1).
One hundred and fifty more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 31,554 recoveries.
There were 4,780 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on April 1. That is a new single day high. To date, 674,211 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
