245 new COVID-19 cases, 1 death reported, 296 recoveries

The new cases are located in the Regina (75), Saskatoon (40), South East (27), North West (23), Central East (19), North Central (15), South Central (12), South West (10), Far North East (9), North East (5), Central West (3), and Far North West (2) zones

There is one new death to report today in the 60 to 69 age group in the Regina zone.

That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 471.

There are 245 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on April 23, 2021.  

The new cases are located in the Regina (75), Saskatoon (40), South East (27), North West (23), Central East (19), North Central (15), South Central (12), South West (10), Far North East (9), North East (5), Central West (3), and Far North West (2) zones.  

Five of the 12 new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Five new cases have pending residence information.

Fourteen previously reported cases with pending residence information have been assigned to the Regina (13) and North Central (1) zones.

Ten cases that were tested out of province have been added to the North West (6) and Far North East (4) counts.

There are now 39,392 reported cases, including 2,463 cases active cases.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number was 251 (20.5 new cases per 100,000). 

As of April 22, 5,691 variants of concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the Regina (3,286), South East (596), Saskatoon (576), South Central (444), Central East (236), South West (143), North West (122), North Central (76), Central West (75), Far North West (64), North East (9), and Far North East (2) zones. There are 62 screened VOCs with residence pending.

There are zero new lineage results reported today. Of the 2,060 VOCs with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 2,046 are B.1.1.1.7 (UK), nine (9) are B.1.351 (SA) and five (5) are P.1. (Brazilian).  

An additional 9,801 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 382,135.  

The 9,801 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following regions: Saskatoon (2,276), Regina (1,197), South East (1,013), Central East (1,005), North East (950), Central West (715), North West (512), South West (502), Far North West (419), North Central (349), South Central (310), Far North East (222), and Far North Central (7). There were 324 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

One hundred and eighty-six people are in hospital. One hundred and thirty-four people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Regina (51), Saskatoon (44), North West (9), Central East (8), North Central (7), South East (7), South Central (4), South West (3), and Far North East (1). Fifty-two people are in intensive care in the following zones: Regina (35), Saskatoon (11), North Central (2), Central East (2), and South West (2).

Two hundred and ninety-six more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 36,458 recoveries.

There were 4,157 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on April 22. To date, 745,435 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
