244 new COVID-19 cases, 11 deaths reported, 282 recoveries

Eleven Saskatchewan residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. Four deaths from the 80-plus age group were reported in Regina. Three deaths were reported in Saskatoon, including one in the 60 to 69 age group and two in the 80-plus age group. Two deaths were reported in Far North East zone, with one each in the 40 to 49 and 70 to 79 age groups. One death was reported in the 60 to 69 age group in the North Central and one in the 70 to 79 age group in the North West zone.

That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 285.

There are 244 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on January 28, 2021. 

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 244 (19.9 new cases per 100,000 population).

The new cases are located in the Saskatoon (70), Regina (54), Far North West (25), North West (20), South East (16), Far North East (14), North Central (13), Central East (10), Far North Central (7), North East (6), Central West (5), and South Central (4) zones.

Five previously reported cases with pending residence information were assigned to the North Central (2), Far North East (1), North West (1), and South East (1) zones.

There are now 23,038 reported cases, including 2,478 active cases.

There were 118 administered doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported yesterday in Saskatchewan. This brings the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 34,672. As of Jan. 28, 106 per cent of the doses received have been administered. This overage is due to efficiencies in drawing extra doses from vials of vaccine received.

The doses were administered in the following zones: Central East (55), South East (30), North West (12), North Central (11), and Far North Central (10). Back-dated corrections submitted for January 19 to 25 have realized 61 vaccinations reported in error. These have been removed from the counts.

A shipment of 5,850 doses of Pfizer vaccine will be arriving next week. It will be divided between the Lloydminster, Spiritwood, Saskatoon, Regina, Swift Current, and Moosomin areas.

Two hundred and eight people are in hospital. One hundred and seventy-one people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Saskatoon (66), Regina (38), North Central (27), North West (14), Central East (11), Far North West (5), North East (4), South East (2), Far North East (1), Central West (1), South West (1), and South Central (1). Thirty-seven people are in intensive care in the following zones: Saskatoon (18), Regina (12), North West (3), North Central (2), Central East (1), and South West (1).

Two hundred and eighty-two more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 20,275 recoveries.

There were 2,575 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on Jan. 27. A total ot 500,043 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
