238 new COVID-19 cases, 109 recoveries

There are 238 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan, as of Jan. 3, 2021. 

The new cases are located in the North Central (50), Saskatoon (42), Far North East (39), North West (23), Regina (20), Far North West (17), South East (14), South Central (13), Central East (6), North East (2), Central West (1), and South West (1) zones.  

Six of the new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Ten new cases have pending residence information.

Two previously reported cases with pending residence information have been assigned to the North West and North Central zones.

There are no deaths to report for Jan. 3. The provincial total remains at 158.

There are now 16,083 reported cases, including 2,841 cases are considered active.

One hundred and nine more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 13,084 recoveries.

As of Jan. 3, a total of 3,866 doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine have been provided to health care workers in Regina as part of the initial pilot and in Saskatoon as part of Phase 1. With the arrival of 4,900 doses of Moderna vaccine, the Far North Central and Far North West regions will start vaccinating priority populations the week of Jan. 4.

One hundred and fifty-two people are in hospital. One hundred and fourteen people are receiving inpatient care — 36 in Regina, 35 in Saskatoon, 29 in the North Central, eight in the North West, two in the Central East, two in the South Central, one in the South West, and one in the South East. Thirty-eight people are in intensive care — 15 in Regina, 11 in Saskatoon, five in the North Central, three in the North West, two in the South West, one in Central East, and one in the South Central.

There were 2,103 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan as of Jan. 3, 2021. To date, 434,157 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
