213 new COVID-19 cases, 8 deaths reported, 148 recoveries

Eight Saskatchewan residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. One death was reported in the North West zone in the 50 to 59 age group. Seven deaths were reported in the Regina zone, in the 50 to 59 (1), 60 to 69 (3) and 80-plus (3) age groups.

That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 430.

There are 213 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Mar. 26, 2021.

The new cases are located in the Regina (104), Saskatoon (34), South Central (14), South East (13), North West (10), North Central (9), North East (8), Far North East (5), Far North West (4), Central East (3), and Central West (1)  zones.  

Twelve of the 14 new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Eight new cases are pending residence information.  

Six cases with pending residence have been assigned to the following zones: North West (3), Regina (2), and North Central (1).

Twelve cases previously assigned to the North Central zone have been found to be from the Far North East zone and have been reassigned.

There are now 32,559 reported cases, including 1,680 active cases.  

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 186 (15.2 new cases per 100,000). 

As of Mar. 25, 1,155 variants of concern (VOC) have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the Regina (973), South Central (70), South East (69), Central East (24), Saskatoon (18), and Far North East (1) zones. These have previously been reported as "presumptive positives" but all screening tests will be considered confirmed VOCs for the purposes of public reporting and contact investigations.  

There are no new lineage results reported today. Of the 473 VOCs with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 465 are B1.1.1.7 (UK) and eight are B1.351 (SA).  

 An additional 6,941 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 162,695.

The 6,941 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered in the following regions: Central East (1,994), Saskatoon (1,925), Regina (1,217), South Central (583), North East (481), North West (385), Far North West (231), North Central (48), Far North East (43), and Central West (34).

One hundred fifty-five people are in hospital. One hundred and thirty-one people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Regina (54), Saskatoon (37), South East (10), Central East (9), North West (6), North Central (6), South Central (4), South West (2), Far North West (1), Far North East (1), and North East (1). Twenty-four people are in intensive care in the following zones: Regina (16), Saskatoon (5), Central East (2), and South Central (1).

One hundred and forty-eight more people have recovered, inceasing the the provincial total to 30,449 recoveries.

There were 4,623 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on Mar. 25.  This is the highest one-day total for COVID-19 tests in the province. To date, 648,252 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
