213 new COVID-19 cases, 4 deaths reported, 284 recoveries

The new cases are located in the following zones: Regina (81), Saskatoon (47), South East (31), Far North West (12), South Central (12), North West (8), Central East (8), North Central (4), South West (4), and North East (3)

There are four new deaths to report today. Three deaths are in the Saskatoon zone from the 40 to 49 (1), 50 to 59 (1), and 70 to 79 (1) age groups. One death is in the Regina zone from the 70 to 79 age group.

That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 486.

There are 213 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on April 28, 2021.

The new cases are located in the following zones: Regina (81), Saskatoon (47), South East (31), Far North West (12), South Central (12), North West (8), Central East (8), North Central (4), South West (4), and North East (3). 

Four of the 12 new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Three new cases are pending residence information.

Two previously reported cases pending residence information have been assigned to the following zones: North West (1) and Regina (1).

There are now 40,614 reported cases, including 2,443 active cases.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 245 (20.0 new cases per 100,000). 

As of April 27, 6,444 variants of concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the following zones: Regina (3,584), Saskatoon (711), South East (662), South Central (486), Central East (282), North West (178), South West (174), North Central (103), Far North West (92), Central West (80), North East (13), Far North East (3), and Far North Central (1). There are 75 screened VOCs with residence pending.

There are zero new lineage results reported today. Of the 2,305 VOCs with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 2,277 are B.1.1.1.7 (UK), 19 are P.1 (Brazilian) and nine are B.1.351 (SA).  

An additional 7,334 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 415,763. 

The 7,334 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following zones: Saskatoon (2,206), Regina (1,278), North West (829), North Central (736), Central East (595), North East (373), South Central (330), South West (230), South East (137), Central West (110), Far North West (90), Far North East (39), and Far North Central (3).  There were 378 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

There are 184 people in hospital. One hundred and forty-two people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Regina (53), Saskatoon (52), South East (10), Central East (7), North West (6), North Central (6), South Central (4), Central West (2), Far North West (1), and Far North East (1). Forty-two people are in intensive care in the following zones: Regina (25), Saskatoon (11), North Central (2), Central East (2), North West (1), and South Central (1).

Two hundred and eighty-four more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 37,685 recoveries.

There were 3,399 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on April 27. To date, 762,565 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
