There are two new deaths to report today. One death was reported in the 50 to 59 age group and one death was in the 80-plus age group, both from the South Central zone.
That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 526.
There are 180 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on May 22, 2021.
The new cases are located in the following zones: Saskatoon (54), North Central (23), North West (22), Regina (19), South East (18), Central East (17), South West (9), North East (6), Central West (4), Far North West (2), Far North East (1), and South Central (1).
The new case in the South Central is located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.
Four cases are pending residence information.
One case tested out of province have been added to Regina zone.
There are now 45,490 reported cases, including 1,770 active cases.
The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 160 (13.1 new cases per 100,000).
As of May 21, 9,950 variants of concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the following zones: Regina (4,504), Saskatoon (1,480), South East (1,015), South Central (703), North West (540), Central East (530), North Central (360), South West (342), Far North West (227), Central West (106), North East (57), and Far North East (21). There are 65 screened VOCs with residence pending.
There are 375 new lineage results reported today. Of the 5,431 VOCs with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 5,273 are B.1.1.1.7 (UK), 124 are P.1 (Brazilian), 24 are B.1.617 (Indian) and 10 are B.1.351 (SA).
An additional 14,801 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 645,384.
The 14,801 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following zones: Saskatoon (4,665), Regina (3,889), Central East (1,148), North Central (1,042), North West (748), South Central (679), South East (650), Central West (510), South West (501), North East (453), Far North West (150), Far North East (150), and Far North Central (1). There were 215 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

There are 120 people in hospital. Ninety-three people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Regina (38), Saskatoon (34), North West (5), North Central (5), Central East (4), South East (4), South Central (2), and South West (1). Twenty-seven people are in intensive care: Regina (14), Saskatoon (11), and North Central (2).
One hundred and eighty-four more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 43,194 recoveries.
There were 3,429 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on May 21. To date, 840,457 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
