178 new COVID-19 cases, 1 death reported, 164 recoveries

One Saskatchewan resident who tested positive for COVID-19 has died. This death was reported in the 80-plus age group from the Regina zone.

That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 418.

There are 178 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Mar. 21, 2021.

The new cases are located in the Regina (105), Saskatoon (19), North Central (15), South East (10), North West (8), North East (7), Central East (6), South Central (3), Far North West (1), Far North East (1), and Central West (1) zones.  

The three new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Two new cases are pending residence information.

There are now 31,637 reported cases, including 1,447 active cases.  

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 146 (11.9 new cases per 100,000).  

As of Mar. 21, there are no new confirmed variants of concern (VOC) cases to report. There are 156 confirmed variants of concern cases in Saskatchewan, including 149 B1.1.1.7 (UK) and seven B1.351 (SA). There are three cases of B1.1.1.7 (UK) and one B1.351 (SA) in the South Central.

In addition to the confirmed cases, there are currently 625 presumptive VOC cases reported in the Regina (527), South Central (40), South East (31), Saskatoon (18), Central East (8), and Far North East (1), zones.

An additional 5,999 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 139,827.

The 5,999 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered in the following regions: Regina (3,118), Saskatoon (1,591), South Central (550), Central East (506), South East (122), North West (48), Far North East (42), and North East (22). Of the doses administered Mar. 20, 1,879 were delivered at the Regina drive thru clinic.

One hundred thirty-nine people are in hospital. One hundred and ten people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Saskatoon (41), Regina (40), North West (6), Central East (6), North Central (5), South Central (4), Far North West (3), South East (3), Far North East (1), and South West (1). Twenty-nine people are in intensive care in the following zones: Regina (16), Saskatoon (10), Central East (2), and South Central (1).

One hundred and sixty-four more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 29,772 recoveries.

There were 2,709 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on Mar. 20. To date, 630,461 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
