177 new COVID-19 cases, 210 recoveries

The new cases are located in the following zones: Regina (42), Saskatoon (40), North West (18), South East (18), South Central (15), Central East (14), South West (11), North Central (9), Far North West (8), and Central West (1)

There are 177 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on May 9, 2021.

The new cases are located in the following zones: Regina (42), Saskatoon (40), North West (18), South East (18), South Central (15), Central East (14), South West (11), North Central (9), Far North West (8), and Central West (1).  

Seven of the 15 new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

One new case is pending residence information.  

Two cases with pending residence information have been assigned to the North Central (1) and Regina (1) zones.

There are now 43,141 reported cases, including 2,260 active cases.  

There are no new deaths to report today. The provincial total remains at 502.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 213 (17.4 new cases per 100,000).  

As of May 8, 8,258 variants of concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the following zones: Regina (4,185), Saskatoon (1,001), South East (848), South Central (601), Central East (366), North West (307), South West (263), North Central (230), Far North West (183), Central West (91), North East (48), and Far North East (6). There are 129 screened VOCs with residence pending.

There are 230 new lineage results reported today. Of the 3,344 VOCs with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 3,288 are B.1.1.1.7 (UK), 47 are P.1 (Brazilian) and nine are B.1.351 (SA).  

An additional daily record of 13,651 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 518,133. 

The 13,651 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following zones: Saskatoon (4,664), Regina (2,311), Central East (1,170), South East (988), South Central (973), North Central (848), North West (679), South West (493), North East (486), Central West (425), Far North West (123), Far North East (90), and Far North Central (6). There were 395 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

There are 157 people in hospital. One hundred and sixteen people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Saskatoon (52), Regina (41), North West (8), South East (4), North Central (3), South Central (3), North East (2), Central East (2), and South West (1). Forty-one people are in intensive care in the following zones: Regina (19), Saskatoon (15), North Central (3), Central East (2), South West (1), and South Central (1).

Two hundred and ten more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 40,379 recoveries.

There were 3,055 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on May 8. To date, 800,129 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
