174 new COVID-19 cases, 3 deaths reported, 108 recoveries

Three Saskatchewan resident who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. The deaths were reported in the 80-plus age group from the Central West zone (1), the 60 to 69 age group from the Far North West zone (1), and the 50 to 59 age group from the Far North Central (1) zone.

That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 414.

There are 174 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Mar. 19, 2021.

The new cases are located in the Regina (86), Saskatoon (20), Central East (12), North East (11), South East (11), Far North West (8), North Central (8), South Central (6), South West (4), and North East (3) zones.  

All six new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Five new cases are pending residence information.  

Three previously reported cases with pending residence information were assigned to the Central West (2) and North Central (1) zones.

There are now 31,259 reported cases, including 1,345 active cases.  

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 128 (10.4 new cases per 100,000).  

As of Mar. 19, there are twenty-one (new confirmed variants of concern (VOC) cases to report. There are 156 confirmed variants of concern cases in Saskatchewan, including 149 B1.1.1.7 (UK) and seven B1.351 (SA). This includes three B1.1.1.7 (UK) and one B1.351 (SA) cases in the South Central.

In addition to the confirmed cases, there are currently 508 presumptive VOC cases reported in the Regina (434), South Central (30), South East (24), Saskatoon (13), Central East (6), and Far North East (1) zones.

An additional 6,867 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 125,062. To date, this is the highest one-day total for vaccine delivery in the province.

The 6,867 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered in the following regions: Regina (3,307), Central East (1,051), Saskatoon (639), Far North West (483), Far North East (410), South East (397), North East (383), South West (196), Central West (131), North Central (87), and Far North Central (10). Of the doses administered Mar. 18, 2,107 were delivered at the Regina drive thru clinic location alone.

One hundred thirty-three people are in hospital. One hundred and six people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Saskatoon (42), Regina (37), North Central (6), Central East (6), North West (5), Far North West (3), South Central (3), South East (2), Far North East (1), and South West (1). Twenty-seven people are in intensive care: Regina (13), Saskatoon (10), Central East (3), and South Central (1).

One hundred and eight more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 29,500 recoveries.

There were 3,635 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on Mar. 18. To date, 624,171 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
