129 new COVID-19 cases, 3 deaths reported, 269 recoveries

The new cases are located in the following zones: Saskatoon (47), Regina (22), North West (18), North Central (14), South East (7), Far North East (5), Central East (5), North East (4), Central West (3), South Central (2), Far North West (1), and South West (1)

There are three new deaths to report today.  All three individuals were in the 70 to 79 age group and from the Saskatoon (2) and Far North East (1) zones. 

That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 522.

There are 129 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on May 18, 2021. 

The new cases are located in the following zones: Saskatoon (47), Regina (22), North West (18), North Central (14), South East (7), Far North East (5), Central East (5), North East (4), Central West (3), South Central (2), Far North West (1), and South West (1).  

The two new cases reported in the South Central are NOT located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Three cases with pending residence information have been assigned to Regina (2) and the North West (1). 

Three cases tested out of province have been added to the Regina (2) and Saskatoon (1) zones.

There are now 44,841 reported cases, including 1,825 active cases.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 187 (15.3 new cases per 100,000).  

As of May 17, 9,467 variants of concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the following zones: Regina (4,428), Saskatoon (1,336), South East (978), South Central (681), Central East (475), North West (422), South West (322), North Central (293), Far North West (209), Central West (101), North East (55), and Far North East (18). There are 149 screened VOCs with residence pending.

There are one hundred and forty-three new lineage results reported today. Of the 4,586 VOCs with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 4,477 are B.1.1.1.7 (UK), 92 are P.1 (Brazilian), 10 are B.1.351 (SA), and seven are B.1.617 (Indian).  

An additional 5,399 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 608,524.  

The 5,399 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following zones: Regina (1,955), Saskatoon (1,523), South East (381), North West (370), North Central (245), Central East (221), South Central (132), South West (79), Central West (70), Far North West (51), North East (44), and Far North East (30). There were 298 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

There are 142 people in hospital. One hundred and fifteen people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Regina (47), Saskatoon (44), North West (6), North Central (5), Central East (5), South East (4), South West (2), and South Central (2). Twenty-seven people are in intensive care in the following zones: Regina (15), Saskatoon (9), North Central (2), and North West (1). 

Two hundred and sixty-nine more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 42,494 recoveries. 

There were 2,629 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on May 17. To date, 827,762 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
