122 new COVID-19 cases, 2 deaths reported, 131 recoveries

There are two new deaths to report today. This includes one death in the 70 to 79 age group from the Saskatoon zone and one death in the 80-plus age group from the North West zone.

That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 536.

There are 122 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on May 28, 2021. 

The new cases are located in the following zones: Saskatoon (38), Regina (21), Central East (16), North Central (12), South Central (11), North West (6), South East (5), Far North West (4), North East (2), Far North Central (1), and South West (1).

All 11 of the new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Five new cases are pending residence information.  

There are now 46,285 reported cases, including 1,371 active cases.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 129 (10.6 new cases per 100,000).  

As of May 27, 10,399 variants of concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the following zones: Regina (4,603), Saskatoon (1,595), South East (1,048), South Central (722), North West (583), Central East (571), North Central (419), South West (356), Far North West (237), Central West (109), North East (56), and Far North East (37). There are 63 screened VOCs with residence pending.

There are two new lineage results reported today. Of the 5,713 VOCs with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 5,529 are B.1.1.1.7 (UK), 144 are P.1 (Brazilian), 30 are B.1.617 (Indian) and 10 are B.1.351 (SA).

An additional 14,351 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 693,625. 

The 14,351 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following zones: Saskatoon (4,648), Regina (3,553), Central East (1,359), South East (782), North Central (772), North West (627), North East (581), Central West (537), South Central (474), South West (354), Far North West (256), Far North East (130), and Far North Central (2). There were 276 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

There are 113 people in hospital. That is the lowest total in hospital since November 28.

Eighty-seven people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Saskatoon (35), Regina (31), North West (6), North Central (5), Central East (4), North East (2), Central West (1), South West (1), South Central (1), and South East (1). Twenty-six people are in intensive care in the following zones: Regina (9), Saskatoon (8), North Central (5), North West (2), Central East (1), and South West (1). 

One hundred and thirty-one more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 44,378 recoveries. 

There were 2,726 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on May 27. To date, 854,364 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
