118 new COVID-19 cases, 6 deaths reported, 216 recoveries

There are six new deaths to report today. This includes one death in the 60 to 69 age group, two deaths in the 70 to 79 age group, and two deaths in the 80-plus age group, all from the Saskatoon zone. One death was also reported in the 70 to 79 age group from the North West zone.

That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 534.

There are 118 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on May 27, 2021. 

The new cases are located in the following zones: Saskatoon (33), Regina (23), North Central (19), South East (14), North West (8), Central East (6), Far North East (3), Far North West (2), North East (2), and South Central (2). 

Both of the new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Six new cases are pending residence information.  

Three previously reported cases with pending residence information were added to the North West (1), Saskatoon (1), and South East (1) zones.

Forty-four cases tested out of province have been added to the following zones: Regina (14), Far North East (5), South East (3), North West (2), Far North West (1), North Central (1), North East (1), and (17) cases are pending residence information.  

There are now 46,163 reported cases, including 1,382 active cases.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 137 (11.2 new cases per 100,000).  

As of May 26, 10,367 variants of concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the following zones: Regina (4,590), Saskatoon (1,595), South East (1,045), South Central (721), North West (581), Central East (568), North Central (413), South West (354), Far North West (236), Central West (109), North East (56), and Far North East (37). There are 62 screened VOCs with residence pending.

There are no new lineage results reported today. Of the 5,711 VOCs with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 5,528 are B.1.1.1.7 (UK), 144 are P.1 (Brazilian), 29 are B.1.617 (Indian) and 10 are B.1.351 (SA).

An additional 9,427 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 679,274.  

The 9,427 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following zones: Regina (2,086), Saskatoon (1,961), Central East (1,155), South East (719), South Central (687), North West (683), North East (598), North Central (373), Central West (358), Far North West (342), South West (195), Far North East (75), and Far North Central (1). There were 194 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

There are 127 people in hospital. One hundred people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Saskatoon (40), Regina (36), North West (7), North Central (5), Central East (4), North East (2), South West (2), South Central (2), and South East (2). Twenty-seven people are in intensive care in the following zones: Saskatoon (9), Regina (9), North Central (5), North West (2), Central East (1), and South West (1).

Two hundred and sixteen more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 44,247 recoveries.

There were 2,583 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on May 25. To date, 851,638 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
