113 new COVID-19 cases, 1 death reported, 174 recoveries

There is one new death to report today in the 80-plus age group from the Saskatoon zone.

That brings the total number of deaths in the province to 539.

There are 113 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on May 31, 2021.  

The new cases are located in the following zones: Saskatoon (24), Regina (24), South Central (15), North West (10), North Central (9), South East (9), Central East (8), Far North West (6), South West (5), and North East (1).  

Fourteen of the 15 new cases in the South Central are located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Two new cases are pending residence information. 

Two cases with pending residence information have been assigned to the North Central zone.

There are now 46,748 reported cases, including 1,368 active cases.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 138 (11.3 per 100,000).  

As of May 30, 10,732 variants of concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the following zones: Regina (4,646), Saskatoon (1,695), South East (1,074), South Central (750), North West (607), Central East (594), North Central (471), South West (373), Far North West (243), Central West (109), North East (58), and Far North East (46). There are 66 screened VOCs with residence pending.

There are no new lineage results reported today. Of the 5,713 VOCs with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 5,529 are B.1.1.1.7 (UK), 144 are P.1 (Brazilian), 30 are B.1.617 (Indian) and 10 are B.1.351 (SA).

An additional 8,039 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 725,648.  

The 8,039 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following zones: Regina (2,779), Saskatoon (2,650), North Central (507), North West (497), South East (475), Central West (263), Central East (229), South West (183), South Central (140), North East (112), Far North East (37), Far North Central (34), and Far North West (25). There were 108 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

There are 108 people in hospital. Eighty-three people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Saskatoon (32), Regina (32), North West (5), North Central (5), Central East (3), North East (2), South West (2), South Central (1), and South East (1). Twenty-five people are in intensive care in the following zones: Saskatoon (11), Regina (8), North Central (4), North West (1), and Central East (1).

One hundred and seventy-four more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 44,841 recoveries. 

There were 1,748 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on May 30. To date, 861,286 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
