111 new COVID-19 cases, 197 recoveries

There are 111 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on May 25, 2021. 

The new cases are located in the following zones: Saskatoon (45), North Central (19), Regina (15), North West (11), Central East (5), Central West (4), South East (3), Far North West (2), South West (2), South Central (2), and North East (1). 

One of the two new cases in the South Central is located in the South Central 2 sub-zone, which includes Moose Jaw and area.

Two new cases are pending residence information.  

Two previously reported cases with pending residence information were added to the North Central zone.

There are no new deaths to report today. The provincial total remains at 527.

There are now 45,820 reported cases, including 1,451 active cases.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 139 (11.3 new cases per 100,000).  

As of May 24, 10,241 variants of concern have been identified by screening in Saskatchewan, reported in the following zones: Regina (4,551), Saskatoon (1,582), South East (1,035), South Central (711), North West (567), Central East (562), North Central (391), South West (349), Far North West (235), Central West (109), North East (58), and Far North East (25). There are 66 screened VOCs with residence pending.

There are 205 new lineage results reported today. Of the 5,636 VOCs with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 5,471 are B.1.1.1.7 (UK), 126 are P.1 (Brazilian), 29 are B.1.617 (Indian) and 10 are B.1.351 (SA).

An additional 2,339 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 665,193.  

The 2,339 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered to residents living in the following zones: Saskatoon (1,026), Regina (958), Central East (57), North Central (46), South Central (44), South East (44), South West (37), Central West (19), North West (18), North East (15), Far North Central (11), Far North East (6), and Far North West (5). There were 53 doses administered with zone of residence pending.

There are 136 people in hospital. One hundred and six people are receiving inpatient care in the following zones: Regina (44), Saskatoon (39), North West (8), North Central (5), Central East (4), South East (3), South Central (2), and South West (1). Thirty people are in intensive care in the following zones: Saskatoon (13), Regina (12), North West (2), North Central (2), and Central East (1). 

One hundred and ninety-seven more people have recovered, increasing the provincial total to 43,842 recoveries.

There were 1,543 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on May 24. To date, 846,893 COVID-19 tests have been processed.
