MOOSE JAW — The Canadian Tire Golf Classic charity golf tournament is back on Wednesday, June 19 at the Hillcrest Golf Course.

The course will be filled with eager golfers ready to play, but most importantly to raise money for kids. There will be a shotgun start at 2 p.m.

Registration for individual golfers is $180, a team of four is $720. A complimentary lunch will be included.

"Last year the community was a great help in getting a lot of funds raised already for Jumpstart, and we were able to help out a lot more kids in our area,” explained Ross Leckie, owner of Canadian Tire Moose Jaw.

“As we all know, a lot of things have been getting tighter as we go along, and it's becoming tougher for parents to get their kids involved in stuff. We really go out there to help them out and get kids involved in activities."

The event is raising money for Jumpstart, a charity that was founded in 2005 and has helped many kids overcome financial barriers to sport and recreation.

In Moose Jaw, kids were able to get into hockey, baseball, soccer, golf and dance, and even the cheer team. The funds assist in all aspects related to kids in sport, including costs and necessary equipment.

In addition to the tournament, there will be a gala dinner the previous evening on June 18 at the Moose Jaw Event Centre (MJEC). Cocktails are at 6 p.m., followed by a buffet dinner at 7 p.m.

Live and silent auctions will be held and several celebrity guests will be joining the gala and sharing a few words, including Saskatchewan-born PWHL star and Sherwood athlete Emily Clark.

To attend the gala, the cost is $130 per person or $1000 for a table of eight.

"The more funds we raise from this tournament will go towards kids in our community and helping them get into sports or whatever else we can get them into, said Leckie. “We just hate seeing kids not get an opportunity to do what they want to do."
