MOOSE JAW — The Moose Jaw Board of Police Commissioners announced the appointment of Robert Davis as the new Chief of Police for the Moose Jaw Police Service, effective Aug. 29.

Chief Davis brings over 34 years of law enforcement experience, most recently serving as Chief of Police in the City of Brantford, Ont. With 13 years as a police chief and leadership roles in both Western and Eastern Canada, Chief Davis is recognized for a deep commitment to community engagement, listening to concerns, identifying challenges, and working collaboratively to build safer communities for all.

Known as an innovative and forward-thinking leader, Chief Davis is dedicated to serving with integrity and transparency. He brings a wealth of professional, personal, and lived experience, along with a steadfast commitment to community safety, employee wellness, and modern policing strategies.

“Chief Robert Davis stood out as a leader who understands the importance of building relationships and leading with both compassion and foresight,” said Mayor Murdock, Chair of the Moose Jaw Board of Police Commissioners.

“We are excited to welcome Chief Robert Davis, and we are confident in the innovative, responsive leadership he will bring to help ensure a safe and vibrant community.”

The appointment follows an extensive, months-long national search and a thorough vetting process.

“This was a rigorous and inclusive effort,” said Councillor Boyle, member of the Moose Jaw Board of Police Commissioners.

“Chief Davis emerged as the clear choice to guide the service into a new chapter, one grounded in community collaboration, accountability, respect, and professionalism.”

Chief Davis expressed gratitude and enthusiasm for the opportunity to serve the City of Moose Jaw and its residents.

“It is an honour to be chosen to lead the Moose Jaw Police Service,” said Chief Davis.

“I want to thank the Board of Police Commissioners for this opportunity. I am committed to working alongside the dedicated members of this police service and engaging openly with the community and stakeholders as we build a safer, stronger Moose Jaw for all.

"As I’ve explored Moose Jaw, I’ve been deeply inspired by the city’s civic pride, community spirit, and shared vision for continued growth and progress. I am both humbled and honoured to serve such a proud and vibrant city,” added Chief Davis.

Chief Davis will officially begin duties on Aug. 29, with a formal swearing-in ceremony to follow in September.
